16/11/2010 Gaelic4Girls Head to Clonmel On Saturday November 20th our Gaelic4Girls teams head to Moyle Rovers GAA Complex just outside Clonmel to take part in the Southern National Blitz Day. Throughout the day they will play teams from Dublin, Galway, Laois, Wexford, Tipperary , Clare & Cork. These games will be 10 aside run on 10 minute intervals with the emphasis on fun and participation. They will also receive coaching sessions from the current Ladies All Stars throughout the afternoon. The bus will leave Club Aras at 10:15am sharp with games commencing at 12:30pm and running until 3:30pm. Many thanks to all who supported our recent quiz night which raised enough funds to cover transportation costs for this blitz and also to all our sponsors on the night.
08/11/2010 U14 Footballers Complete East Cork Double Congratulations to our U14 Footballers who completed the East Cork double after beating Castlelyons on a scoreline of 5-16 to 2-7 to win this year's league title adding to their championship crown. Well done to all involved.

25/10/2010 Gaelic4Girls National Blitz Day November 20th Cahir The venue for the National Blitz Day for our region has been selected as Cahir in Co. Tipperary on Saturday November 20th, where registration will take place at 11am with games commencing @ 12 noon. Over the past 6 weeks over 85 girls from the ages of 8 to 13 have taken part in this program whee the basic skills ofthe game have been taught by a team of 11 coaches. The program will culminate with participation in the National Blitz where the girls will represent our club. Teams from Cork, Clare, Tipperary, Wexford, Galway, Dublin & Laois will take part in our blitz with each team consisting of 10 players who will participate in approximately 5 or 6 10 minute aside games throughout the afternoon finishing at approximately 3:30pm. The number of teams per club is not restricted so all of our girls will take part in all games. The location for teams from the northern part of the country is Brefney Park in Cavan. All of the girls will receive a packed lunch & a goodie bag on the day and will also get a chance to meet some of the current Ladies Football All-Stars.
24/10/2010 Junior Footballers Win East Cork League Title Congratulations to our Junior Footballers who won the Division 3 League title after defeating Carrignavar on a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-6. The foundation for this victory was laid in the first half when Eochaill took a commanding half time lead of 2-5 to 0-3. This victory makes up for the disapopointing championship defeat. Full report.
04/10/2010 U16 Footballers Win East Cork Championship Congratulations to our U16 Footballers who won the East Cork Championship for the second year running after beating Erins Own tonight in Cobh on a score line of 2-15 to 1-4. They now progress to the County championship. Full report to follow.

25/09/2010 Disappointment for Intermediate Hurlers Our Intermediate hurlers had a disappointing end to this year's championship after going down heavily to Tracton in their replayed county semi-final on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-22.

24/09/2010 U14 Footballers Qualify for League Final Our U14 Footballers are in line for an East Cork double after defeating Erins Own on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-7, they now go on to play Fr. O'Neills in the final. Full report to follow.
12/09/2010 IHC County Semi-Final Eochaill 1-12 Tracton 1-12 Our Intermediate hurlers came from 2 points down n the closing minutes to snatch a draw after an entertaining County semi-final clash with Tracton in Pairc Ui Chaoimh today. Eochaill got off to a flying start to lead by 1-4 to 0-2 after 10 minutes and looked to be cruising. In fairness to Tracton who never gave up stuck to their task and closed the gap to 2 points at the short whistle 1-6 to 0-7. The game turned in Tracton's favour in the 42nd minute when they goaled from a penalty and extended their lead to 3 points with 7 minutes remaining. In fairness to the Youghal lads gradually whitled the lead down to draw parity in injury time. No details as of yet on a replay date.
Gaelic4Girls Comes to Youghal Saturday 11th of September was another historic day in the history of CLG Eochaill when Gaelic4Girls commenced with over 70 girls (aged 8-13) attending. Gaelic4Girls is a program promoted by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association aimed at increasing participation in rapid, urban or non traditional areas. The program targets girls between the ages of 8-13 years in the hope that they will continue to play with local clubs in the area or that a new club may be formed in the area. The girls are taught the basic skills of Gaelic Football on a fun basis by fully qualified coaches and then demonstrate their new skills through a series of mini blitz of games. The program will run over 8 weeks consisting of 7 weeks of coaching and the final week culminating with an internal blitz. Sessions are one hour in duration and will run from 10:30am – 11:30am each Saturday morning. A National Blitz day will also be held in November where all sites from around country come together to participate in fun, non competitive mini games. The girls get a chance to meet the Ladies Gaelic Football All Stars on the day also. Those attending on the National Blitz day will also receive a goodie bag. The cost of participating in the program is €5 per player which goes towards the cost of tee-shirt, certificate & goodie bag. A fund raising fun based Quiz and Disco has been scheduled for Friday 5th November in Club Aras @ 8pm to raise funds to cover the cost of the players’ buses to the National Blitz Day in November. The program is also supported by the Cork Sports Partnership who funded the cost of the coaching course and any equipment that is needed to run the program successfully. The initial reaction has been fantastic will numbers exceeding 70 on the first morning, and all participants eagerly looking forward to the next session. Over the next week the Ladies Football Urban Development Officer will visit the schools in the Youghal area promoting the program. With Ladies Football, the fastest growing sport in Europe, Youghal Juvenile club have positioned themselves strongly to support and compliment their Camogie counterparts in hosting sporting outlets for the girls of our town. Heartbreak For U14s Our U14 Footballers suffered a narrow defeat against a fine Kilmacabea team on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-13 in last Saturday's County Final in Ballincollig. The key moment in this match came 10 minutes before half time where Kilmacabea scored 1-4 without reply to lead by 1-7 to 0-3 at the short whistle. In fairness to the Youghal lads they put in a tremendous second half to not only narrow this lead but to actually take command and lead by 1 point with 3 minutes remaining. However their magnificant effort toook it's toll in the heat and Kilmacabea regained the initiative to finish strongly by scoring 3 points. These lads have given tremendous service to the Club in 2010 and now look forward to contesting this year's league semi-finals over the next few weeks in both hurling and football. Full Report

County Finalists Congratulations to our Junior Camogie team who qualified for the CountyFinal after beating Castlelyons 2-9 to 0-4 on Friday the 20th August and to our U14 Footballers who qualified for the County Final after defeating Sliabh Rua on a scoreline of 1-16 to 2-10 on Saturday 21st August. The camogie team now play Ballinascarty on Saturday 28th August in Mahon @ 5pm while the U14s play Kilmacabea in Ballincollig on Saturday 4th September @ 4pm. Family Fun Weekend August Weekend What a weekend, it was a first for Youghal G.A.A. and one that we can be proud off. We started off the weekend on Friday Night with our Chairman Seanie Ring officially launching the weekend and Fr. Winkle giving us a short blessing. This was followed by an interclubs Superstar where nine clubs competed agility, strength, games all overseen by Peter Coady, Fergal Keenaghan and Dave Kilgannon. The night proved very popular with all and we also had our compare Vincie Murray keeping the crowd amused. We also had music by Planet Claire, and DJ. Barry and a barbeque by Le Gourmet. Superb night and we will definitely be doing the Superstars again so I hope you are all in training. (Winners on the night for the Mens were Youghal G.A.A. and the Ladies were Youghal Rugby). Thanks to all who competed on the night. Youghal Family Fun Festival July 16th- 18th Eochaill Óg took part in this year's Family Fun Festival by entering in the Mardi Gras Parade on the Friday evening and hosting an under U9 Football Blitz on the Saturday morning for all members & kids from the town, surrounding areas and holiday makers. In all over 100 children turned up for a truely exciting morning's entertainment where all kids were presented with their certificate by Christy Cooney, President of the GAA. Many thanks to pur U14s & U16s who refereed all games.

Lá na gClub 2010 On Sunday May 9th CLG Eochaill celebrated Lá na gClub in style with a full program of events for all of the juvenile members in the club. Blitzs were held for the U6s, 8s & 10s while the U12s, 14s & 16s held a series of hurling skills competitions. Each team on the day were assigned a member of the Intermediate team as manager and the action commenced with a parade from the hall out onto the field cheered on by family & friends. Afterwards the kids were presented with a medal to mark the day and danced the evening away to DJ Barry. Many thanks to all who helped out on the day.
Imokilly Representatives On Monday 3rd May, Imokilly won the under 15A & B Hurling Dick Barrett Shield and U16 Hurling Munster Plate. Eochaill Óg were representd by Aidan O'Neill, Mark Flaherty & Colin Keenaghan. Well done to all involved.
Eochaill Óg Under 6's and 7's (Hurling) and Under 12's (Football) Blitz There was sheer excitement on their faces and some great hurling taking place on the pitch and one morning definitely to be remembered by all as for some it was their first BIG MATCH.... The U12's played against Kitha Óg in football and the Youghal team had a great game and good practice for upcoming matches under their Team Manager Phil Monaghan. Our Blitz co-ordinator is Fergal Keenaghan and we like to say thanks for all the effort that is going into these blitz's. They have been running since the end of January and we hope to have further football blitz's this summer. I would also like to say a special thanks to the Super Saturday Ladies who looked after and ran the kitchen so well on Saturday morning as when we did the numbers after it looked like we had approximately 400 people that were looked after in the morning and also thanks to all who helped with the clean up. Well Done!
Eochaill Óg Win Best Juvenile Group in St. Patrick's Day Parade For the 2nd year running Eochaill Óg captured "Best Juvenile Award" in the 2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade. Over 70 juvenile members togged out in club colours and proudly represented the club by marching around the town. The theme for this year was "Future" "Present" & "Past" which was represented by all many members of the club. Our numbers were also swelled by the Camogie Club who also had a fantastic turnout.

Rith 2010 Eochaill Óg played a significant part in the arrival of "Rith 2010" into Youghal on Satuday 13th March with over 20 juvenile members taking part in carrying the baton from the Town Hall up through the Main Street where they finally handed over President McAleese's message to the Youghal Athletic Club at the end of Cork Hill who ran onto Gortroe. Highlight of the journey was our gaelgóir and Cork Cultural Officer Liam O'Laoachda taking part in the run by carrying the baton past McCarthy's Hotel, the original birth place of CLG Eochaill.

Minor Hurlers 2009 Inter-Divisional Champions On Sunday 14th of February Eochaill played St. Vincents in the 2009 Imokilly / Seandum League final which they duely won in a thrillingscoreline of 0-19 to 2-11.
